Thrice has been my favorite band for the past seven years and it was an incredible, uplifting experience to shoot them. It was a day of very exciting firsts: Thrice was the first band I photographed with my new (D300) camera, and it was the first time I'd ever been in front of the rail. The crowd received them very well and many sang along. Hearing the crowd clap to the a cappella buildup in The Earth Will Shake and chant the choral end of Firebreather was... I don't know, spiritual?
After the exhilirating show (they were every bit amazing live as I had been promised), Becca & I interviewed them for Paydirt. More on that will be published soon (in the Las Cruces Bulletin first). And personal mission accomplished: Dustin signed "To breathe in fire and know I'm free" on my camera, while Teppei, Riley, and Eddie initialed the lens frame. To celebrate, Becca took me to her favorite tattoo parlor in town, and I got the first small, but very important, installment of my future arm tattoo (compass rose, Thrice to the north...).
